What We Are Doing to Meet Our Goals

January 14, 2026 - Meeting

Call to Order at 7:02p by Routzahn (My notes not official minutes)
Roll Call: Mary Barraza, Nancy Mickle, Denise Routzahn, Taylor Arnold, Jon Hunt, Courtney Hurt
Absent: Kelly Frodge
Approval of 16 Dec 2025 Minutes: Motioned to accept by Mary, 2nd by Courtney, 6/0 all ayes, motion carried.
Financial Report: As of 16 December 2025, we had $3420, we paid liability insurance in the amount of $92 for our exercise classes, leaving $3328. Kelly deposited $20 as our board member buy in leaving us with a balance of $3348.
Unfinished Business:
Euchre Tournament is being planned for April with a twist. This will be a tournament of anyone wanting to hold a Euchre Tournament in their own homes with the two top players being entered into our championship tournament. All family tournaments must enter their winners by 31 March 2026 to be eligible to participate in the Championship Tournament.
Exercise Classes are going well. We discussed possibly adding some type of classes for seniors and disabled that would be very low impact. There are modified exercises for the current classes now to help those who are not quite ready for the higher intensity exercises.
Valentine’s Day Fundraiser has been canceled for this year. We will need more time to plan and will hopefully be able to do it for next year.
Grants were discussed since speaking with Dale White of the Western Indiana Community Foundation. We need grants and donations in order to complete a feasibility study that is required for us to entice the YMCA to come to Attica at a cost of $28,000 - $30,000. We have already met with them several times and will continue to meet with them as we have formed a Y Board with several entities in Attica. We will be applying for a Legacy Grant and need to get on immediately since the Letter of Intent is due by 15 February 2026 and the Grant Application is due by 15 April 2026. We are planning to apply for a combination grant to cover expenses for the pool itself, liability insurance for it, as well as the feasibility insurance as well as anything else that the Y will require.
New Business:
Fishing Tournament is being planned for this Spring or Summer on the Wabash. We are wanting to have a fishing contest between Williamsport and Attica to get rid of Asian Carp. It was suggested to contact APD to find out who our local DNR Officer is to get more information regarding our fishing contest.
Classes for line dancing with Nancy is our next endeavor to get the community involved more and have some fun. There are no additional costs for our liability insurance. Soft-soled shoes must be worn for these classes. We will charge the same as our current classes so our punch card can be used for any of our classes. We need to work at a location, but it must have either hardwood or tile floors. It is too hard on the body to line dance on carpet.
Motion to accept the line dancing as part of our exercise program was motioned by Courtney, 2nd by Jon, 6/0 all ayes, motion carried.
Pool Building has some damage and needs to be inspected. We have contacted a building inspector from Indianapolis (Michael Francis) who will be coming on 27 January 2026 to inspect the pool building and let us know if it is still safe or if we will need to do something to fix any issues. We are just getting the building and foundation inspected at this time since we know the inside will need gutted and brought up to ADA regulations. Courtney discussed the initial plans to make the building into a “L” to add more options for classes and community room for rentals. We are still wanting to add a commercial kitchen to the concessions area to offer actual meals to the community. We also want to make Ravine Park the hub of our community.
We discussed the fact that the classes and other fundraising opportunities all feed into our project to get the pool while offering other recreational opportunities at the same time.
Motion was made by Mary to adjourn the meeting at 7:46p, 2nd by Courtney, 6/0 all ayes, motion carried.
