Working to Meet our Goals

Attica Recreation, Inc. (ARI) was formed in 2024 as a 501 (c)3 organization in order to gain access to federal, state and private funding that is generally only available to nonprofits and universities, which would help make recreational facilities and activities available to the Attica community. ARI is comprised of a group of committed individuals from varied backgrounds who are committed to doing what they can to help achieve the mission of the organization. The group was established with the assistance of Attica leaders, including the Mayor, City Council, and Park Board.

The first ARI board was formed November 17, 2024. Founding Board Members were Denise Routzahn, currently president; Mary Barraza, currently secretary;  Nancy Mickle, currently director; and Courtney Hurt, Eli French, Amanda Gibson and Mike Baird who are no longer on the Board. Strategic Plan
As part of accomplishing the goals of our 2025 Strategic Plan, we invited community leaders and interested individuals to attend a meeting for design of an updated Strategic Plan. The Board wants to thank everyone who attended our Strategic Planning Meeting on Thursday, October 22, and contributed their ideas and experience. We also want to thank the two facilitators, Wade Hampton and Melissa Everhart, from Getting to What Matters for the excellent leadership they provided. The meeting was held at Vingette Farms, an event venue in Fountain County and we want to thank the owners for donating use of the venue. Several people shared information with attendees. Mayor Grant spoke about efforts that have been made to improve Attica. Jerry Mattern, President of the Attica Park Board shared information about recent additions at the parks, and future projects. Brian Craft, from WEGA shared information about the work that group has done in downtown Attica and plans for the future. Many others spoke throughout the meeting and shared information about issues being discussed. We had a dynamic, diverse group and ended the meeting looking forward with high hopes to receiving results we can use to accomplish the goals that we established when we organized.
2025 Strategic Plan
In order to set a clear set of goals for Attica Recreation, Inc., a Strategic Plan was designed in 2025. This plan outlined our goals, a timeline to accomplish them and the means by which they could be achieved. Accepting the reality that re-establishing a public pool in Attica would be costly, our vision including soliciting help through the YMCA.
